🎙️ The Game That Didn’t Stop.Act 1 — OpeningThere’s a song by Paul McCartney, Pipes of Peace. In the video, it tells of two armies in the First World War, fighting each other in a long, bitter war — and then one day, an announcement: a ceasefire. Silence.Act 2 — The Quiet MomentDuring that ceasefire, the leaders try to sort out some kind of agreement. The soldiers are bored stiff. Each army on its own side… someone finds a ball, and somehow — a football match is arranged between the two sides.Act 3 — The GameThe leaders keep talking… and the soldiers keep playing. Talk talk talk — nothing happens, no agreement. And then — another order for war.Act 4 — War ResumesA whistle blows. All the soldiers head back to their positions, each to his own trench, and off we go again — shells, explosions, the whole lot.Act 5 — The New VersionAnd here’s where I say — to Mister Sir Paul McCartney: Do a REWORK. Instead of stopping — let the soldiers and the commanders tell the leaders: “No. We’re not going back to war. We’re carrying on with the game. Leave us in peace.”Act 6 — EndingNo drama. That’s it. A different ending.Act 7 — Our TimeAnd now we get to today… Russia–Ukraine… Iran–Israel–Lebanon–the US… talking faka faka and boom boom — basically kalam fadi.Looks like they might reach some sort of agreement before the World Cup. Let’s all hope that after the World Cup, all the soldiers go home safely. You know — shalom, salaam, peace. |
